Human Tenderness! A commentary on sucking less. This book is read front to back if you are an asshole and need to be less of one, and back to front if you aren’t an asshole and need to be more of one.
This booklet isn’t here to damn and condemn all asshole traits and pretend like assholes have no role in the world other than wreaking havoc, BUT instead offers an alternative to being a run of the mill, predictable, everyday asshole. Ethical assholes are a national treasure! This book is a a lightly jarring yet modest collection of unsolicited advice on how to be a human. The good, the bad, and the ugly. This book is both satire and completely serious. To reach an asshole, you have to be an asshole.
The booklet will be 50 pages, french fold, on perfect bound news print. It will be 4 chapters and have an AR component. It will charge the reader to consider the idea of sucking less as a person.
The concept for You’re an Asshole was originally born out of humor and some light annoyance at the assholes of the world. It quickly became a topic I simply enjoyed researching. Now, I’d like to think I have a pretty sturdy grasp on the subject.
I think the areas I learned the most in were book production, paper sourcing, dealing with vendors, and formatting for print. I love book design, so this project felt like it kind of flew by. I struggled with color choices, as I aimed to keep everything informed by concept *the colors get less annoying and more pleasant as you read. This mirrors what should be happening on the inside of someone. I ran into some internal conflict in the copy writing and struggled with the ethics of being an asshole.
